Nicole Miller and Fashion Group International

 Last Wednesday, I was invited to attend a great event hosted by the Fashion Group International of South Florida.  The event was to honor American Designer Nicole Miller as she celebrated her 30th year in the fashion industry in conjunction with the events for Funskion Fashion Week in Miami.

I was very exited to attend and started preparing my look for the event immediately after receiving the invite. I wanted to wear a cocktail dress, but after seeing a picture of a super chic maxi skirt in the Fall Vogue Magazine, I fell in love with the look and had to wear it. I looked in my closet for a maxi skirt that I made back in 1998, (lol), but I was not able to find it. After much frustration and looking into my many bags of clothes. I noticed the bag of unfinished items that I set aside to send to a seamstresses in the Dominican Republic. To my surprise, I saw the silk taffeta gown I started sewing in 2007 and never got to complete. I thought to myself that this will make the perfect skirt for the event. Immediately the next day, I began to redesign of this taffeta dress. In the pictures below, you can see both my inspiration and the final results. All in all, here's a very good reason why I don't get rid of things. You never know when you will need it.

During the event, I got a chance to speak with the talented Nicole Miller. I asked her for some advice regarding longevity and success in the fashion industry. She said to me," The industry is hard to start in." She explained, "You need to love it in order to success." I thought then I guess I'm on the right track.

Fall Fashion Party Update!

Last Thursday, I had the opportunity to share my love for fashion with my faithful RDo`s lovers. The celebration and unveiling of my New Fall Collection!

The four hour event was great and filled with fantastic energy. We enjoyed great music, drinks, fashion and great company. At the end of the soiree, we received great feedback from all the guest and attendees. I hope next time you'll be able to join us.

Fashion Night Out in Miami!

Every year, the Thursday before the official New York fashion Week, the fashion industry celebrates Fashion Night Out. An initiative of the CFDA and Vogue's editor, Anna Wintour, to celebrate fashion and to motivate people to spend and support the fashion industry.

 Fashion Night Out is the official kick off party of the season, with events now in more than 500 cities worldwide. Last Thursday, Sept. 6 celebrated its 4th year and of course, I was out celebrating my love for fashion!

There are so many events all over Miami I wanted to attend; but this year I decided to celebrate FNO at Macys in Aventura, FL;especially, because one of the host  for the event will be my "compatriota" Empire Girl Julissa Bermudez, who I wanted to meet badly and  I was happy to find that she is super cool and down to earth.

Deciding what to wear was a hard decision to make, with so many cute styles from my new Fall collection. It was hard for me to pick one and add some of the trends from the Fall season as I wanted to.

Since this season is about jumper 101 and animal prints, I decided to wear an animal printed jumper (see picture below) with some of the seasons hottest accessories like my florescent  pink shoes and sequins pink clutch. (Yes, you can carry some florescent colors from last season into Fall.)

 I got to Macy's a little after 6pm and the party was already on. Everyone was in a great mood and ready to celebrate fashion. I enjoyed the fashion show, especially because the prints in all the Fall trends there were shown on the runway. I mingled with other fashionistas and altogether had a great evening.

 Every day women all over the world celebrate fashion by getting dressed, but having a night to specifically celebrate it, feels great! I cant wait until next year!
